Dear
Madame,
I read with interest your message posted on 23rd September
on Livelihoods Connect Website.
The Sustainable Fisheries Livelihoods Programme (SFLP) represents
a partnership between the FAO, DFID and 25 participating countries
of West Africa. The Programme seeks to reduce poverty in coastal
and inland fisheries communities by improving the livelihoods
of people dependent on fishery and aquatic resources; primarily
through: development of the communities' social capital, enhancement
of their natural assets and the development of appropriate
fisheries policy and institutional environments amongst others.
The SFLP approach is based on two main tools: the Sustainable
Livelihoods (SL)Approach and the Code of Conduct for Responsible
Fisheries (CCRF). We have since the start of the Programme
(2000), developed several materials, literature and tools
aimed at varying levels of the development continuum: micro
(community level organizations and field workers); meso (staff
at middle level decentralized structures including NGOs) and
macro (national level decision makers). The materials and
literature are available in english, french and portuguese
from our website www.sflp.org
The course explains SLA concept, its guiding principles and
framework as analytical tool and links their use to PRA Methods.
It used in conjunction with our "Guide d'Orientation
Pour L'Elaboration Des Projets Communautaires". We have
found this very exciting and useful in participatory identification
of Community Projects.
For further information I suggest that you visit our website
mentioned above. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
