| The
devastating impact of the tsunami in South-East Asia on 26th December 2005 claimed
over 140,000 lives, leaving millions of people in desperate need of aid.
The
world responded by providing significant funds. How have the
most affected countries and regions - Indonesia (Sumatra),
Sri Lanka, Malaysia (Penang), Thailand, South India, Myanmar,
the Maldives, the Andoman and Nicobar Islands and Somalia
- benefited from the aid?
These papers and organisations assess the responses to the tsunami and review
how the livelihoods approach can be used within humanitarian relief work to foster
longer term improvements in people's livelihoods. Please
