Video on community forestry in Nepal
(Tara Bhattarai: ForestAction)
3 December 2002

We are pleased to announce the release of an English Version video documentary "Community Forestry: The Other Side of the Coin''. This 38 minute documentary reviews the process and outcomes of the community forestry in Nepal.

Reexamining the historical contexts that led to the evolution of community forestry in Nepal, the video depicts a visual trajectory of community forestry in Nepal with many ups and downs. It captures the ground level realities of community forestry in the revealing words of men, women, local political leaders, government officials and other key stakeholders. It also highlights the emerging trends in the way people and government are interacting in issues related to the management of forest resources.

We think that the video is extremely useful in:

  • Reflecting upon the community forestry practices in Nepal in a nutshell
  • Stimulating discussions during the trainings and workshops
  • Orienting students and researchers on community forestry in Nepal
  • Providing evidences to advocacy groups
  • Locating issues of research in community forestry
  • Identifying critical avenues for the development of enabling forest policy in Nepal
  • Empowering local communities and disadvantaged groups

You can find the documentary in both VCD and video cassette (Nepali) at the price of 13 USD (excluding postage). We also deliver the product and charge extra 2 USD for delivery.
