Policy Research and Coastal Livelihoods
(Jock Campbell: IMM Ltd)
29 October 2002

Understanding the complexities of the interacting forces in the coastal ecosystem can very difficult. Even more confusing is understanding how polices affect the livelihoods of the poor in the coast. A project under DFID's Policy Research Programme is designed to do that. The Sustainable Coastal Livelihoods Project is implemented by IMM Ltd and partners in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The purpose of the project is to identify and promote policies for sustainable livelihoods of poor rural people. The project has identified a range of problem areas that face the policy-poverty process and is currently developing and testing policy guidance to help overcome these. The project website is: http://www.ex.ac.uk/imm/SCL.htm
