Dick Jone's article- Energy for the Poor- suggests that a new approach
is required to ensure that energy underpins efforts to reduce
poverty. To acheive this means incorporating a Sustainable
Livelihoods Approach:
- taking
a people centred approach to deliver energy services that
meet people's needs and priorities
- working
across all sectors to integrate energy more fully into development
processes early on
- working
at macro and micro levels in order to develop pro-poor policies
- taking
a holistic approach to energy rather than a project-based
approach
