Learning Lessons from the Cyclone - Updated
(Shouvik Datta: DFID) 18 June 2002

Those interested in post-disaster rehabilitation may like to read the summary of a new report for DFID on the partnership between DFID India, the NGO and government agencies it worked with, and some of the communities that were supported with rehabilitation funds. The cyclone that struck the coast of Orissa in 1999 killed an estimated 10,000 people and destroyed the livelihoods of many more survivors. The report draws out lessons for future livelihood rehabilitation programmes.
