Favourable and Unfavourable Conditions for Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) – Feedback welcome

Petra Bongartz
Date posted : 9 Feb 2008

The paper - Favourable and Unfavourable Conditions for Community Led Total Sanitation is work in progress based on brainstorming and consultation with practitioners and others and part of the research that we are involved in here at IDS.

It proposes that triggering and the achievement of Open Defecation Free (ODF) status are more likely to succeed in some conditions than in others. Starting in favourable conditions and spreading into less favourable is a commonsense strategy.

We welcome feedback, comments and additional inputs.
