As
part of its project on 'Southern
Voices for Change in the International Aid System',
the Overseas Development Institute (UK) has launched a virtual
Forum on the Future of
Aid (FFA), dedicated to research and opinions about how
the international aid system currently works and where it
should go next.
What will
the Forum do?
The Forum is a discussion network, with expert research, briefing
and consulting support, dedicated to the international aid
system-the so-called 'aid architecture'-and how it evolves
over time.
It is mainly concerned with how official aid institutions
and financing instruments, new and old, work individually
and as a group, and how they might work better.
Examples of topics covered include:
1) How will the US-Millennium Challenge Account change the
behaviour of other donors?
2) How might the International Financing Facility select its
beneficiaries?
3) Are the global funds, like the one to fight AIDS etc.,
set to grow and grow?
4) Is aid 'harmonisation' likely to have any major lasting
effect?
5) Should the World Bank only make grants, not loans, to low-income
countries?
6) How can aid recipients have more say in how the aid system
is run?
