Voices From Communities Affected By Climate Change

Friends of the Earth International

November 2008

It is a matter of record that the peoples of the global South and Indigenous Peoples worldwide are most vulnerable to climate change. This is because their livelihoods are intimately tied to the land and water, to the diversity of ecosystems and to their traditional knowledge about these resources. However these voices are rarely heard.

A new report provides nine testimonies from local community members around the world who have dramatic first-hand experience of the devastating impacts of climate events.

This report is an appeal for the environmental movement to join forces with other social movements, to work united in building solutions to the climate crisis.
