Use
of Sustainable Livelihoods Approaches
This multi disciplinary research project contributed to the
formulation of policy guidelines for improving development
interventions in the Andes Region. The formulation was based
on research data on survival strategies of farm-households
in the northern parts of Chuquisaca and Potosi in Bolivia.
Research was focused on livelihood strategies of farm households
in different agro-ecological conditions, and assessed the
farmers' views on the development potential of the areas and
on interventions by NGOs and governmental organizations over
the past decade. The province of Chuquisaca outside the city
Sucre is one of the poorest region of Bolivia, which itself
is the second poorest country in Latin America.
