| These
papers explore the process by which women use enterprise development as a vehicle
to make change in their lives. They
outline work done on poverty alleviation, and present a comprehensive, holistic
approach to moving women out of poverty. They show that a woman's journey out
of poverty must be self directed, but assisted, so that women can over time build
a range of assets that will support self sufficiency. The
Women and Economic Development Consortium (WEDC), a grant-making partnership led
by CWF has published this research in order to capture the learning from nine
model economic development projects funded by WEDC between 1997 and 2002.
