The Sustainable Livelihoods Approach advocates the use of a mix of qualitative (informal) and quantitative (formal) methods when analysing and assessing livelihoods. These Best Practice Guidelines offer practical assistance for field staff and project managers in selecting the most appropriate data collection and analysis methods when faced with information objectives and constraints.
