Khanya-aicdd’s second annual report PDF highlights the wide range of work being undertaken across Southern and Eastern Africa around community-driven development. It profiles achievements and emerging issues across Khanya-aicdd’s content areas and the tools used. Some highlights from this report include:

Rethinking development systems: Khanya-aicdd’s work on Community-based worker systems which is starting to bear fruit through informing policy in Lesotho, and lessons of good practice emerging from South Africa, Uganda, Kenya and Lesotho.
Promoting food security: work on designing a community-animal health worker system in Lesotho using the “pay by user” model, where Community Based Workers are implemented primarily through the private sector.
Local economic development (LED): research on Pro-Poor LED has generated a picture of the application of LED in South Africa – and also 44 ways that Pro-Poor LED can be taken forward, and
Community-based management: Our research on Funding Communities provides us with ideas on how to put funds into the hands of communities.
