WSP
International Management Consulting (WSPimc) is a subsidiary
of WSP GROUP PLC, a global business providing management and
consultancy services to the built and natural environment.
WSPimc carries out technical and management
consultancy projects throughout the world. Our clients are
generally governments in recipient countries of projects funded
by the main aid agencies such as the World Bank, Asian Development
Bank, EU and the UK Government's Department for International

WSP imc has worked for many years in the area of rural and
social development, working closely with public sector, non-governmental
and private partners, both local and international, to build
up systems at the local level that ensure a sustainable means
of improving livelihoods. We have developed particular expertise
in the use of infrastructure improvements as a means of improving
livelihoods.
Projects undertaken in recent years have included the following:
- The
Rural Access Project in Nepal, a poverty alleviation
working to ensure a sustained impact on the poor and disadvantaged,
through improved rural access in remote areas. Road-building
is accompanied by complementary interventions that are contributing
significantly to improved livelihoods.
- Consulting
for the design of the Kolkata Urban Services for the
Poor (KUSP) in India. The goal of KUSP is an improvement
in the well being of urban poor in the project area through
improved governance and access to basic infrastructure,
and economic development
- Review
of technical solutions for affordable water supply and
sanitation in low income rural communities in Myanmar.
- Planning,
design and improvement of feeder roads, associated structures
and markets in growth centres in Bangladesh.
- Provision
of rural and urban infrastructure for low income communities,
and development of their capacity to participate in the
planning, design and construction of facilities in NWFP,
Pakistan.
