IMM Ltd.

IMM Ltd. is an international research, development and consultancy group. Thier mission is to play a major, long-term role in sustainably reducing global poverty. The focus of their work in the past has been working with communities that depend on the aquatic environment. That remit has expanded as they take a much more holistic view of poverty and the livelihoods of rural people. They are involved in a range of projects and programmes linked into this aim and work with a diversity of partners in the process.

Examples of projects with a Sustainable Livelihoods Approach:

  • Poverty and Reefs Initiative: IMM has launched a poverty and reefs initiative in order to place poor people at the centre of the reef debate
  • Reef Livelihoods Assessment : DFID-funded policy research aimed at understanding the benefit flows to poor people from coral reef ecosystems
  • Sustainable Coastal Livelihoods: The Coastal Livelihood Information Papers

In addition to projects, IMM Ltd. has been actively using and promoting the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach through training and tools. Examples:

  • SL training course for government staff in Cambodia (workshop report available).
  • Analysis of the livelihoods of poor people dependent on fisheries post-harvest activities in Ghana
