The Centre for International Development and Training (CIDT) is a self-financing, non-profit making centre within the University of Wolverhampton.
CIDT has worked for over 30 years within people-centred sustainable development. It aims to influence change, challenge the causes of poverty and enhance the livelihoods of vulnerable people.
CIDT works in key areas: capacity building; community participation and development; institutional strengthening sustainable livelihoods approaches; conflict management; rural development and change management.
Examples of its sustainable livelihoods experience include:
- Management of the programme on sustainable livelihoods training and institutional support, Bhutan and Nepal
- Management of the rural development institutional change project in Brazil
- Monitoring and evaluation of the livelihoods programme in the Chars, Bangladesh
- Consultancy inputs to the livelihoods and forestry Programme, Nepal
- Provided a variety of Sustainable livelihoods Consultants’ Fora in UK to introduce the approach and then subject-related fora
- Provided training to DFID offices around the world “Away from the Framework and into the Field”
- Project planning for livelihoods approaches to assist UK small farmers with the National Farmers Network
