Christian
Aid is a British and Irish charity working to tackle the causes
of poverty and injustice in some of the world's poorest countries.
It supports local communities to find their own solutions
to the problems they face. It works where the need is greatest
in nearly 50 countries, regardless of ethnicity, nationality
or religion, to meet suffering and stop poverty - whether
through providing emergency relief or long-term development.
"Secure
Livelihoods" is one of Christian Aid's strategic
focus areas. Their strenghths in this area include:

people by empowering them to protect and claim their rights
to essential assets and resources and strengthening
their communities to protect themselves against the risk
of disasters.
Christian
Aid is committed to gain a better understanding of the impact
of environmental threats in the lives and hopes of poor peoples,
in order to address the underlying causes of disasters and
respond quickly and effectively to its effects. Its focus
on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation also looks
at advocating for justice in climate change and building the
capacity of our Southern partners.Our
expertise when supporting partners lies in the areas of addressing
the underlying causes of poverty and disaster and providing
people with the capacity to protect themselves against disaster,
live with dignity safer and work towards a more sustainable
livelihoods.
