The
Livelihoods and Poverty Research Group at BCID
aims for a greater understanding of how institutions can be
effectively shaped, so that they can best impact on reducing
the vulnerability of livelihoods to shocks and stresses. The
group brings together specialists from a variety of backgrounds
- natural resource management, economics and the social sciences
- in order to increase our understanding of the complex issues
surrounding poverty.
Current
interests of the team include water governance; institutional
change and management; poverty and the sustainable livelihoods
approach; the relationship between social capital; poverty
and gender; urban livelihoods; and developing indicators for
sustainability.
