International programme of Henry
Doubleday Research
Association (HDRA) has been running since 1986. It facilitates
ecological, sustainable agriculture appropriate for small
and medium-scale farmers in developing countries. It undertakes
this through research, capacity building, training and the
provision of information and advice.
HDRA
believes ecological farming plays an important role in the
sustainable livelihoods approach by increasing food security
and reducing poverty whilst protecting environmental resources
for the future. HDRA has developed approx 60 simple booklets
and information sheets on a range of issues from composting
to weed control. It also operates an enquiry service - answering
specific questions on ecological farming available free to
farmers and community organisations around the world. Garden
Organic is the working name of the Henry Doubleday Research
Association.
