organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working
towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty
in the world’s poorest countries. Concern's mission
is to help people living in extreme poverty achieve major

they are weak or do not exist.
Job Summary
- Oversee
the planning and delivery of the Livelihoods and
Food Security Programme.
- Develop
a monitoring and evaluating system and
oversee the programme progress against agreed programme
objectives.
- Lead
and participate in livelihoods assessments.
- Manage
the Project Team with particular emphasis on capacity building
of staff through mentoring and training.
- Monitor
the production and dispatch of livelihoods reports
within Concern as appropriate, in accordance with approved
reporting schedules.
- Ensure
that situation reports, i.e. on security, personnel and
programme activities, are produced to a high standard and
in a timely manner to the Head of Base.
- Ensure
community participation, sensitisation and collaboration
in programme activities.
Ensure that crosscutting themes such as HIV and AIDS, gender
equality and protection, are mainstreamed in the programme.
- Monitor
and manage programme expenditure and budgets,
ensuring resources are optimally utilised and spending is
in line with Concern financial procedures and donor requirements.
- On
behalf of Concern, coordinate with NGOs
and local authorities and other actors in Goz Beida.
- Identify
possible areas for expansion of
programmes and the development of possible areas for new
interventions.
- Ensure
the Head of Base is kept up to date on all programme issues
as they arise.
Person
Specification
-
Relevant third level qualification – preferably with
strong a relevant degree in a related field (Food
security, agriculture, international development, etc) is
essential.
- At
least three years’ experience of
working in development and emergencies
- Experience
of working on a livelihoods programme
- Experience
of managing a team
- Proposal
and report writing skills
- Experience
of working in an insecure environment
- Ability
to work in French
- Flexibility
and the ability to direct a multi-cultural team
- Good
interpersonal and communication skills
- Good
organisation, planning and management skills
Ability to work under pressure
