Co-ordinated by
the ILO's Employment Strategy Department, the Task Force followed-up
on the World Summit for Social Development's commitment to
expand work opportunities and productivity in rural and urban
sectors. Other partners included the World Bank, UNESCO, and
UNDP.
The Task Force undertook employment policy
reviews in Chile, Hungary, Nepal, Morocco, Zambia, Indonesia and Mozambique.
The reviews aimed to:
- identify lessons from the pursuit of policies for
full employment and sustainable livelihoods
- explore
whether these lessons can be replicated
Work
focused on continued economic growth that makes good use of
the asset that the poor own and strengthening the capacity
of key groups to respond to new opportunities. The Task Force
has wound down, but its work continues through the Employment
Policies and Advisory Services Unit.
