| The
Natural Resources Institute,
in collaboration with the BBC World
Service and supported by DFID, has produced
a number of series of radio programmes on development-related topics, both for
broadcast on the World Service and for broadcast on local radio stations in Africa.
To listen to the
audio files, which are in MP3 format, requires an audio system such as RealPlayer.
You can download this for free at RealPlayer

We envisage
that these materials may be useful for educational and training purposes at various
levels and in various contexts, formal and informal. Please contact Dr. Janowski
at the NRI if you intend to use them, since we are interested to know how they
are being used. The
programmes may also be re-broadcast on local radio stations. Please contact Dr.
Janowski in the first instance if you or a radio station you know of would like
to broadcast any of the series. This is both because we would like to know that
this is happening and because in the case of BBC series clearance needs to be
sought from the BBC. No charge is normally made by the BBC when their series are
rebroadcast, but they do stipulate that they give this clearance.

Monica Janowski (m.janowski@sussex.ac.uk)
